Easy pan-fried salmon steak to perfection and coated in the most delicious homemade Teriyaki sauce. A super easy dinner option that can be on the table in less than 30 minutes, service with rice and veggies to make it a healthy meal!
The sauce compliments the salmon steak perfectly and is sweet, tangy and thick.
Ingredients:
Pan fried salmon steak
- Salmon steak (about 13 oz)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
Garlic chips
- 3 garlic cloves (sliced)
Teriyaki sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp ginger syrup
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp sake or rice wine
Sides
- Cherry tomatoes (optional)
- Chopped green onion
Instructions:
- Wash and pat the salmon dry with a paper towel
- Season the salmon steak with 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper for at least 15 minutes
- Combine all the ingredients for Teriyaki sauce in a bowl, stir and mix it well
- Coat the salmon with a thin layer of cornstarch
- Heat 1 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat, fry the garlic slices until they get crispy golden brown on both sides (take approximately 90 seconds for each side)
- Take the garlic chips out and put it aside
- Use the same skillet with 1 tablespoons vegetable oil over high heat
- Place the salmon steak. Cook until golden brown on 1 side, about 5 minutes . Turn the steak over and cook until its crisp, if desired, about 3 minutes more.
- Pour in the teriyaki sauce mixture and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce get thicker
- Flip the salmon steak on both side, so it can be fully coated by the sauce
- Add cherry tomatoes and cook for 2 minute.
- Turn off the heat
- Garnish with green onion and sliced garlic chips
- Enjoy the pan-fried salmon steak with steamed rice!
Tips: To get golden brown crust on your fish, you will want to make sure your pan is very hot and the salmon steaks are patted dry before they are added to the pan
