A big change will happen this weekend for Downtown staple Maxine’s Chicken & Waffles — it will move from its gas station adjacent location at the corner of East St and Ohio St into the City Market.
Maxine’s, a destination for lunch and dinner alike for more than a decade since opening in 2008, will abandon traditional restaurant seating and replacing it with over-the-counter service.
One thing that won’t change is the restaurant’s commitment to put a “taste of love in every bite.”
While this change is eminent, Maxine’s is looking to expand to a second traditional location.
Inside the City Market, they will take over the vacant stall left over after the closure of Circle City Soups and Circle City Sweets moving to the soon opening AMP at 16 Tech.
Maxine’s hopes to reopen in the City Market by Wednesday.
