Longtime soul food restaurant, Kountry Kitchen, broke ground on its new location yesterday. The previous location burned down in early 2020. The new restaurant, which includes an event center as well as rooftop & outside dining, will be built at the site of the old location at 19th & College.
Kountry Kitchen has welcomed many celebrities since opening in 1988 including Barack Obama, Peter King, Jimmy Fallon and more. Hometown hero Mike Epps has been a regular and was in attendance at the groundbreaking.
Kountry Kitchen which has been operating out of a temporary location at 1417 Commerce Ave, shared the following message to it’s Facebook page:
“New beginnings. Thank you to all Family, old and new who came out to our groundbreaking. It feels good when our hometown loves us back. To all of our partners and supporters, let’s do it bigger and better.”
