Louisville’s Goodwood is staking its claim to Indy, opening a brewpub this summer at the former Downtown location of the RAM. The chain shut its door last year like many Downtown restaurants due to slow business related to COVID-19.
This will be the fourth location of the Louisville-based brewery and distillery. While Goodwood has opened two other brewpubs in Lexington and Frankfort, Kentucky, this will be their first Indiana opening.
Goodwood’s been making award-winning craft beer since opening in 2005 and added a few beer-finished bourbons — honey ale and stout — in 2019. They have six standard wood-aged beers including Louisville Lager, which is the first and only beer brewed with 100% Kentucky-grown grains. Goodwood also has a slew of limited releases.
All of Goodwood’s beer and bourbon is brewed with limestone water. It’s believed that calcium-rich waters filtered through the limestone that sits beneath the soil of the Bluegrass region is perfectly suited for bourbon. And Goodwood follows the philosophy “what’s good for bourbon is even better for beer.”
Goodwood has collaborated with Bardstown Bourbon Company on a few bourbon releases as well.
Goodwood’s menu is filled with Southern classics like shrimp & grits, blackened catfish, fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles (pictured) and spicy braised collards.
Opening is currently set for Independence Day weekend on July 5, perfect timing to enjoy the decently sized patio.
