A new 21-and-older bar, The Oakmont, is taking over the vacant space left over by Krueger’s Tavern, which never reopened following a temporary closure due the coronavirus pandemic.
The Oakmont plans to deploy a diverse selection of whiskey and tequila when it opens in mid-April to pair with a food menu that the owners hope entices ‘Instagrammers’.
While menu hasn’t been posted yet, owners Chris Burton and Gus Vazquez envision items like a pancake board dressed up like charcuterie.
Burton and Vazquez have a wide range of hospitality experience dating back more than 20 years.
Burton has been a partner and owner of Revel nightclub, Kirloy’s and Britton Tavern. While Vazquez spent time in food distribution before managing multiple cinema grill chains.
Surrounding Thunderdome’s restaurants, Bakersfield and The Eagle, remain open despite Krueger’s closure.
Krueger’s had only been open a bit over a year, opening in January 2019.
